Fantastic experience: Lovely place

Negative experience: DO NOT go here for lap swimming, this facility solely prioritises revenue generated via swim school and more often than not has majority of swim lanes closed to accommodate for swim school sessions. There is little consideration for the safety of it's customers as there are no limits of swimmers per lane and they would rather make money off cramming swimmers that have already paid to enter the facility cramming into a single lane than turn customers away due to overcrowding. If you want a fun day for your kids in the wave pool and.. only the wave pool, go for it! Thorough disappointed and disgusted.

Negative experience: Too crowded and pools closed off for other things

Negative experience: I took my son for his first day of swim class, since his slot time has changed from 8:30AM to 9AM he wanted to play for sometime in the water so I allowed him to play in the water, where other kids also playing as their classes also yet to begin at 9AM since it’s my first time with my son I was very excited and left my new born at home and gave importance to my second son and thought of spending leisure time with my son but turned out to be awful experience. The staff/life saver informed me that my son shouldn’t be in the water! I was other kids were there but he dint say it to all. I was really unhappy that they mentioned only to my son not others. Rules should be followed for all. Not sure whether he is not allowed to play in the play area! Apparently, my son was enjoying n not listening to me n refused to step out! I was already panicked that they were already targeted my son now he’s not coming out of the water n his class has been started, n he wasn’t coming out n I was out of control n hit him coz I’ve to step inside the water to pull him out. (I was feared that I am stepping in the water to pull him out n I was worried that they will comment that I’m not suppose to be in water etc). I request some help from staff, she said that it’s none of her job as a lifesaver I have to control my kid!! It was harsh n rude reply from her. I was very guilt being in postpartum trying to give my best to my second son n they ruined my day n since then my son is keep saying ”sorry“ for his action on that day!! Please kindly be patient and humble with parents. Respect everyone equally and avoid this kind of behaviour in the future.

Negative experience: I had a very disappointing experience with staff at Blacktown Leisure Centre Stanhope on 8 February 2026 around 12:30 pm. I went to the entrance simply to pick up my kids after their swimming lesson, but I was not allowed to enter. The staff member at the gate asked for my surname and phone number and, in a very rude tone, told me that neither appeared in the system. Despite calmly providing my details and trying to explain the situation, she remained unhelpful and dismissive. The way I was spoken to made me feel uncomfortable and unfairly judged, which was upsetting. While this was happening, my wife was already inside the pool area and had to manage both kids on her own. Eventually, when my wife showed the booking barcode, the staff member entered it and my name immediately appeared in the system. She then stated that the barcode could only be used exactly at the lesson start time. There was no apology for the confusion or for the way I was treated, even though the issue was clearly due to how the system was handled. The entire situation was unnecessary and stressful and could have been resolved with basic courtesy and common sense. I mean if she was colour blind, the conversation would have been much nicer one towards me. The facilities themselves are ok, but customer service at the entry gate seriously needs improvement.

Negative experience: Very poor pool management. Learn-to-swim programs / yoga classes for both kids and adults are scheduled during peak hours and take up most of the swimming lanes. Some lanes are allocated to just one student and one instructor, while the rest of the public is forced to crowd into only two lanes. As a council swimming pool, I understand the need to generate revenue, but greater consideration should be given to the general public. This setup is unreasonable and poorly managed.

Positive experience: Good amenities for little kids

Negative experience: Just 3 swimming lanes for adults most of the time. 5 people in 1 lane. So disappointing.

Negative experience: The most disorganised swimming pool and staff changing rhetoric by the minute. Avoid going there on a hot weekend day cos the staff has no idea what's going on and you may get refused entry for no genuine reason, or there can be severe lack of lifeguard supervision. 1. Tried to go swimming there and was told pool at full capacity and we need to wait to be let in. 2. 10 minutes later we were told we could go in but then was refused entry because we are annual pass holder. Only those who purchase a ticket can go in. Up until this stage it's still fine but it got absurd next. 3. I then went to the reception to buy tickets but was told pool at capacity and no tickets can be sold. But then clearly they were letting people in now so it must be NOT at capacity. The reception later checked with her supervisor and confirmed no tickets can be sold 4. So I went back to the gate and by this time the supervisor came back. Initially she said only ticket holders can go in but as soon as I told her i was just refused a ticket sale, she immediatey changed the rhetoric to ''oh we are still at capacity'' 5. Then I pointed out there are many people coming out every minute, she changed her rhetoric again, to ''oh we initially let too many people in so we were way over the capacity''. So my question is: 1. why would they let so many people in, that even after 15-20 minutes of people continually coming out, they are still way over capacity. How can they ensure safety in this circumstance 2. How can the manager there change the rhetoric about capacity like that. Is it just ego or she truly has no idea what's going on inside the pool

Negative experience: I had a very bad experience here. My wife and daughter went inside, but when I tried to enter, staff wouldn’t let us in because the pool was supposedly full. What made it worse is that I could clearly see many people leaving, yet they still refused entry while continuing to sell tickets at the front desk. This is very poor management and extremely frustrating. I wouldn’t recommend this place. After I waited the different staff have told us we have to wait in different place.

Negative experience: Receptionists don't answer the phone!!!

Fantastic experience: Good spacious place for kid's party... Happy we rented here for our lovely Daugthers bday!!!

Negative experience: "Regarding ROWED management, I strongly advise against visiting their swimming pool. The staff there are unhelpful. When my kids were in distress, they did not offer assistance. I had to rescue my kids myself. The management informed me that the staff's responsibility was to watch the pool, not the kids. I highly discourage anyone from going there. The staff is very grumpy and uncooperative."

Negative experience: I visited Blacktown Leisure Centre Stanhope this afternoon and witnessed a concerning incident. A mother was struggling to rescue her children from drowning, while the lifeguards were standing and watching. Some strangers jumped in to help the mother, but the staff at the leisure centre were unwelcoming and treated my children poorly. My family and I felt very unwelcome and the staff was rude and unapologetic. The manager, Brenda, spoke to the struggling mother and showed no sympathy for the situation, stating that it was not the lifeguards' responsibility to help the children. This experience was very disappointing, and I strongly advise against taking children to this leisure centre.

Fantastic experience: Great indoor pools multiple places to swim and relax other good facilities as well.

Negative experience: A multicultural swimming centre, so be mindful who you are interacting with, I have experienced and witnessed few bitter situations,

Fantastic experience: I went here on Sunday around 3 in the afternoon, and there were heaps of people lining up in the cafe, and there were only two ladies working. It is quite surprising that they can do their job properly but it took them a while, and I understand that. Kudos to your staff.

Fantastic experience: We go for our infant's swim lessons every week. Staff at reception is very helpful, and always answer the phone without long waits too. The instructor is lovely and very sweet with all bubbs. I'm happy with all of them.

Fantastic experience: Clean, warm water, the best for early morning swimming, and most importantly, no need to have membership.

Negative experience: I do not recommend taking your child here for swimming lessons. Myself and several other families have had continuous issues with the temperature of the water, it is FREEZING! Multiple employees have admitted to it being too cold but say they’re working on it, which is a white lie. On the note of employees, they’re horrible grumps, not friendly, not approachable. In regards to water temp, I’ve seen babies scream from the temp, including my own, deterring them from being able to become accustomed to water. I’ve also seen babies swimming without swim nappies, and no staff member has told them the regulations of a baby not being bare bottomed in the water, the health risk in regards to that is shocking. The swim teachers are on a high horse, yelling at students like they’re training for the olympics, unsure what their motivation is. This establishment never answers their phones, communication amongst staff is terrible. My final note, DO NOT TAKE YOUR CHILDREN HERE.

Negative experience: I wish I could take video of this… Hope Blacktown leisur center Stanhope check cctv for instructors 2, 9 & 4 for wed 17/07/2024 between 530pm & 6pm. Instructors constantly talking to each other, hardly paying any attention to kids swimming (almost like kids swimming unsupervised), all kids get to either ends of the pool and wait for few minutes before instructors finish talking and instruct them further. Council has increased prices however the quality and dedication of the instructors going down. Most instructors hardly pay attention and barely instruct kids. I raised this concern with their supervisor in past and I was told the kids should be swimming independently and we (parents) should be bringing our children more often to swimming pools.

Fantastic experience: I mostly attend the aqua aerobic classes and the gym. Love the fact that this centre is only a few mins drive from me, and right next to the shops too. Carpark can get busy sometimes if a lot of events are on, and sometimes there can be a wait for the showers as theres only 4 showers. But all in all, i love my membership

Fantastic experience: Great place on a rainy winter day. The pool is heated and it was nice and warm. It has a nice lazy pool which is perfect for kids especially toddlers and babies. The price is reasonable too.

Positive experience: Wish it was a 50m pool. But 25 will do... Gets pretty cramped when lessons are on in the afternoons. They usually take half the pool which is a bit ridiculous and cram everyone into 5 lanes.. Which they expect 10 people to be able to swim per 25m lane lol. But when its quiet its pretty solid. Lockers sometimes don't work which is pretty annoying as i am very wary about my valuables. All in all its a good venue thats ok for a pool. Defs better in sydney but its the only decent pool near me so it will do.

Positive experience: in compare of 3 years ago it's quality reduced. Today in change rooms hand wash box was empty. Some of pools attractive points were not working And jacuzzi was working with very low pressure . İ hope they repair it asap

Negative experience: Staff are not helpful and receptionist would rather sit down on the computer then entertain customers

Fantastic experience: Centrally located with state of the art facilities (one stop shop) where while family can spend quality time with a wide range of physical activities like swimming, workout etc Feather in the hat is the staff there. They are just wonderful with a helping attitude all the time. A special mention to the lady Alannah who helped me in the registration process this afternoon. Fantastic experience: Great. We had a training day in the Tennis Club function room. A really nice, quiet and light filled venue. Highly recommended!

Negative experience: We've been years with their swimming school, no problem, until they changed payments to derict debit last year, from the first payment they started taking penalties for every child, checked with the bank no problem plenty of Funds, check with them they don't know, passed a whole term or 2 with the same problem. When we asked refund for our unfair penalties they said to contact derict debit! Waw is that my job? Though We did contact them, they referred us back to the centre.... Did a complaint, unfortunately they did nothing, what they did is stealing unfair money from a family of 5 kids while they are still confused about their new payment system, we left with no return after being customers for 7 years!

Fantastic experience: Great gym/ awesome teams.. however I don't much like going to their spa/pool area. It can feel a bit not so hygienic.. The Badminton courts are great if you are on court 1-4. Court 5-8 have very poor lighting and you can end up hurting yourself if they don't install blinds to fix it.. Otherwise this is a blessing in the neighbourhood..

Fantastic experience: Huge number of indoor and outdoor pickleball courts. Cafe ok, lots of toilets, loads of parking.

Fantastic experience: It was excellent today especially seeing the wave pool was working and used often. Our family had a wonderful time.

Negative experience: Hundreds of people filming their children learning swimming lesson. The lifeguard only stopped me from filming my daughter swimming alone, not even other children around her. While he's asking me to stop filming, other adults were still filming their children. 12/04/2024 03:50 PM on the first swimming lane. When having the waved pool, most of the adults filmed, no one stopped them, but this lifeguard told me that the policy is not to film in the centre. There's no "No Camera" sign as well.

Negative experience: This place is filthy, hot and unappealing. There are adults swimming in clothes that look filthy (long pants and t shirts), and presumably the same underwear they’ve worn all day, which is against the rules but no one ever directs them to wear swimwear. There is a man who swims in the leisure part of the lap pool every Thursday afternoon in his filthy clothes and he is always filling his mouth with water and spitting it out. Again, no one ever says anything. My children caught that nasty bug that is going around from the pool.

Positive experience: Always busy. Enjoying the classes and hoping to get our kids swimming classes there soon. Like the library and we have often gone for Rhyme time which is always fun for kids. Love the concept of having many activites in one spot and conveniently located for shops too.

Fantastic experience: The place to be! They've got everything here!

Negative experience: INCONSIDERED STAFF! This female staff has no sympathetic towards my client who has a disability.

Negative experience: Big center, not very clean swimming pool and change rooms. Pool is full of chlorine to the extend that ur eyes burn. Sport salons don't have much ventilation and they are very hot and suffocating inside as there us no cooling or air conditioning system not even fans. Very big sport halls though and many restrooms available throughout which is great and they are clean.

Positive experience: Badminton courts are so so. The nets provided there are hopeless with cuts and wearing off so many places

Negative experience: The pool area looks worn, unmaintained , and the wave's pool has no waves and is not heated , so it was my first time there and it was very disappointed

Fantastic experience: * kids love the wave pool * big area to sit a watch kids swim * baby pool * lap pool * older kids swimming area * fun , clean, has pool monitors or life saving staff walking and monitoring pool for safety which is great

Fantastic experience: Good place to unwind after a night shift at work, then head home for a good night sleep. Staff and lifeguards are very friendly.

Positive experience: Having a kid lane could be nice for the people who wants to exercise in the slow lane… Next time I’ll know that I need to come over in the early morning… Otherwise good indoor swimming pool.

Positive experience: With the heat it was very busy, however the staff were great. They kept a watchful eye on all the patrons and even evicted unruly and troublesome teenagers. Appreciated their efforts.

Negative experience: They said wave pool will be open by 4.30pm. They charged the same. They Should honestly have a maximum capacity in these pools especially when they close the wave pool and toddler areas. It was disgusting to see so many people just a metre or less apart in the pool. Most of them were fully clothed, we also caught a few disgusting things around the pool and people clearing their noses and mucus in the pool. Disgusting!!!

Negative experience: RUDE STAFF! I totally agree to ALL the people who have complained about the rudeness of the staff members! And YES the life guards are for display purposes only as they are not even prepared to jump if there was an actual emergency. Bathrooms are disgusting! Staff are most likely to tell you off rather than doing their jobs! NO family rooms anymore coz it’s now CHANGE ROOMS where a single person can take forever while the actual families are waiting. SINGLE mums you are somehow expected to supervise your child in the men’s bathroom if your boy is over 8 “for your child’s safety” or be prepared to wait forever for A change room is available which in most cases 2 out of 5 are out of service. They’ve increased the price but then there should be improvement in service too. Staff no need to be friendly but at least be kind!!

Negative experience: Shutting at 5pm on the weekends in Summer is so bizarre and results in so much overcrowding and frustration. It’s literally the peak time people want to use the facilities why do they close so early? Even Riverstone pool shuts at 8pm. The gym layout is pretty terrible too and so overdue for a revamp/extension. There is nowhere to do free weights or stretching.

Fantastic experience: Extremely enormous place with lots of space for most of the activities. Even the swimming is for all categories of age group people

Positive experience: This place is run by Government employees who are fully trained to stay grumpy. There are long ques in the busy times with only 1 person attending reception, while you can see other staff doing more important stuff.

Fantastic experience: What a fantastic day it was to wrap up our time at Blacktown Leisure Centre! The staff there were absolutely incredible, and the way they kept the place in top-notch condition was truly impressive. My family and I had an absolute blast spending time here, and I would highly recommend checking it out if you haven't already. Trust me, you won't be disappointed!

Positive experience: Good facility, well maintained, staff is very friendly and Lots of parking space. The only negative is this place can get very busy on weekends so, go early if possible.

Positive experience: My review is in particular with tennis courts. Need a lot Of improvements to be made and required cracks to be filled up. Dangerous to play with couple of courts very slippery. Also need clear directions of parking near the tennis courts.

Positive experience: As a support worker I was disappointed by the way the reception girls reaction. I brought a customer there 1st time. He forgot his companion card but still has Ndis number I explained to the girl the situation and she still made me pay. As if I am lying. Omg sometimes U guys need some compassion. On that day my client was very uncomfortable. That's why I let it go. U Guys you don't need to be friendly but nice to people.

Fantastic experience: Has all amenities a family needs like Gym, tennis courts, group fitness classes, swimming pool, sauna, spa, Library. The aquatic center has wave pool and small pools as well so that all age group can enjoy. Happy that we have all facilities at our door step. Ample parking space and just opposite to Stanhope village. It has a small Cafe as well with kids food and coffee options

Fantastic experience: Exceptional venue. Modern and large complex catering to swimming, tennis, martial arts and more. There appear to be cafes operating within the space and management providing support and cooperation.

Negative experience: Extremely rude behaviour I have ever seen by the enrolment team. By giving wrong information, the lady waste my time which shows unprofessional and ignorance of client's need. Highly disappointed.

Negative experience: Terrible pools if you want to swim! Went today to do laps & got kicked out of the lanes as they were doing swimming lessons. So only 2 lanes to do laps with about 10 people trying to swim per lane. Just ridiculous. Rude staff, would not bother going again

Negative experience: Went here with my Mrs today. Honestly did not enjoy myself. As many people have stated the staff are rude and arrogant. I understand that they have a job to do but get off your high horse. The pools and bathrooms themselves feel very unclean. By the time we got out of the pool and getting changed I was already coughing my guts up and went home with the flu this very evening. I'll take my business back to Olympic Park.

Positive experience: Why it closes on weekend 5 PM . It should be open (Gym at least ) 24 hours as other clubs do

Fantastic experience: Really good entertainment place, water activities, common library, gym, tennis ground and lot of fun activities available at this place. I have spent a weekend with my little one, she enjoyed a lot here.

Negative experience: Asian guy in food area with glasses worst customer service of my entire life. embarrassment. He needs to get out of the industry as he doesn’t even have common manners. Many have complained already, he needs retraining or find a new career path. Ruined my day with his antics. Bye.

Negative experience: Went to the place about 2 weeks ago to enroll my kids in swimming.Was advised by staff that the enrollment is on the 4th Jan. Got there at 8am only to be told that it's all taken up and has been booked by existing students. Similar thing happened in the previous enrollment attempt as well. It's a bit misleading to have flyers and everything printed and advice people to enroll when there are no spots. There's also no waiting list available.

Negative experience: Absolutely disgusted in this centre. Went from Hawkesbury Oasis to here as this is now my local and I never thought a kid could go backwards in learning how to swim. They cancelled my sons membership as the payment had failed after he’s been there for 6months and than when I ring to pay it I came across a woman who was from reception who didn’t put me through to the swim centre and just told me it’s bad luck and my sons spot had been taken within the half hour of cancellation email being sent out. Mind you when I called I was on hold for 25mins. So they apparently filled it straight away. Good luck ever finding a parking spot here too. They need to fix that. It’s a nightmare. Looks like going back to Hawkesbury for the extra drive is the way to go.

Negative experience: asian guy with the glasses that works at the cafe is very rude and needs re-training or to be fired. he sold stale chips that were 3 months out of date yet refused to exchange them due to “policy”. absolutely disgusting, this cafe needs to be shut down or sold to people who actually care about customer service. I wish I had his name to report him to management.

Fantastic experience: Amazing Staff ..it was a long Q for changing date time today...but two dedicated staff managed the Q very well and helped patrons with a smile. Also the staff making the changes were patient and responded well to queries.. Overall a pleasant experience in spite of long wait.

Positive experience: Used to be my favourite local swimming pool.. but unfortunately the place feels aging / rundown, it needs some renovations. The price for casual entry still good though but the members is not

Negative experience: JAN 29 - Poor customer service by young asian man with glasses in the food kiosk, me and my young niece were laughing after he had served us and he immediately came to conclusion we were making fun of him acting as if the world revolved around him. He stormed up at us and shouted WHAT IS YOUR PROBLEM and shot us dirty looks, we were confused the whole time and he came back another time and said WHATEVER YOU ARE SAYING ABOUT ME YOU BETTER STOP, I tried to explain we were not laughing about him and he stormed off, when he gave us our food I tried rectifying the situation by asking him what makes you think we were talking about you and he stormed off yet again. Rude rude service and no professionalism what so ever. I suggest you change your attitude and stop thinking the world revolves around you. Disgusting behaviour, I am not one to talk about others especially a hospitality worker I do not know. I will not be returning to this centre after this experience.

Negative experience: I've been training at the gym for a number of years and things never change. It was located conveniently for me, but have since found better gyms in the area. Broken equipment takes forever to be fixed, weight equipment is old and been updated once in over ten years. The only reason I didn't give it one star is the classes are good.

Negative experience: I have been doing Lab swimming every morning fr 12 years in this pool . Was kicked out of Lab swimming today because it is 20 years anniversary. The Manager of the pool is rude does not accept complaint well . This is not the first time , she is rude seen her rude many times with others . She is asking to complain to Mayor . The Manager needs more training on courtsey . Mayor pl note how long term members are treated in this facilities

Fantastic experience: I go to the Blacktown Leisure Centre Stanhope every day for a swim, spa, hot steam, and sauna. It’s an excellent way to destress and has become a daily habit for me. The leisure center itself is well-maintained and clean, with plenty of amenities to keep me coming back. The pools are spacious and well-heated, making for a comfortable swimming experience. The spa, steam room, and sauna are all great for relaxation, and I love spending time in them after a swim. The staff at the leisure center are also fantastic. They’re always friendly and helpful, and they go above and beyond to make sure that I have a great experience. Overall, I would highly recommend the Blacktown Leisure Centre Stanhope to anyone looking for a great place to swim, relax, and destress. It’s become a regular part of my routine, and I can’t imagine going without it.
