Fantastic experience: Had a fantastic family taster session where we were given a chance to climb a selection of walls around the centre. Rose our instructor was brilliant, explaining all aspects of safety, giving valuable tips as we climbed, bags of gentle encouragement to keep going and celebrating our small wins. A huge thanks and high fives all round to all at Parthian Climbing Manchester!

Fantastic experience: Very nice staff. And beautiful place

Fantastic experience: I took my 3yr old toddlers to participate in the Wild Climbers session. Our tutor was Gaz and he was absolutely amazing. My son is very timid and he warmed to him instantly. My son really enjoyed the little climbing cave and later progressed on to the bigger wall which I didn't expect him to do. Credit is due to Gaz for having patience and providing expertise guidance. My son is asking to go back already. We both had a great time

Fantastic experience: Staff - everyone was very friendly and talkative. Also understanding when doing the belay test that different countries have different standards (e.g. in the USA a stopper knot is not typically required as it does not add any additional safety if you have a sufficiently long tail, but they seem to be the standard in the uk). Facilities - while not the biggest gym I've been to, it wasn't the smallest either. The ambiance is amazing due to the whole old church thing. Unfortunately the bouldering walls are quite short and there's not a lot of variety of wall angles for the space due to structural limitations. I do wish there was a sauna and that the pads were softer (though not as big of a deal due to the short walls) Setting - If you want older school style setting, this seems like a great place. That being said, I wish there was more 3D climbs with volumes & macros to make up for the limited wall angles. Also especially sad to see so few slab boulders. Please throw more money at the setters because 1) setters always deserve more, 2) they did a good job with what they had, and 3) adding in some more creative setting could help make up for the structural limitations of the building. Bonus points for a killer Americano and a nice atmosphere to do work. Giving it 5 stars for the friendly staff + great atmosphere + the setting being good for its particular style (even if that style is not my favorite style)

Fantastic experience: Great place to climb. Set in an old church so plenty of hight to the walls. Great selection or roped climbs and lead routes. Some auto belays too. Bouldering and a gym there too. Drinks and some snack bars available and some climbing g essentials to buy. Welcoming staff and onside parking. Press the green button while pushing the door to get in from the car park.

Fantastic experience: I learned to top rope and lead climb, the staff are incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. The socials are great to meet other climbers and share tips.

Fantastic experience: My son and I had a great time at Parthian. We did a family taster session to celebrate my son’s 10th birthday. The support, advice and encouragement from Rich was excellent. Fantastic venue for climbing.

Fantastic experience: I had an amazing adult taster session for climbing today, and it was all thanks to Rose! She was incredibly patient, knowledgeable, and encouraging, making the whole experience enjoyable and engaging. Her passion for climbing and her dedication to teaching really shone through, making me feel both comfortable and challenged. I can’t thank Rose enough for such a fantastic introduction to climbing. Highly recommend for anyone looking to get started or try something new!

Fantastic experience: Great place; great people. Staff are super friendly, enthusiastic and always available to offer advice. Both my kids learned to climb here and love going here as often as possible. Recommend all the courses for both adults and children.

Positive experience: Great place and been coming for over 15 years but unfortunately they stopped taking cash which upset most of our group members.so sadly weve been gathering at their rival wall ever since. Absolutely lovely people,great route setting and a great atmosphere.

Fantastic experience: Unfortunately our car broke down after climbing in their car park. Potentially needed a special transporter and it would have been after their closing time. Staff very supportive and were willing to stop behind after closing until the car was recovered. Excellent customer service.

Fantastic experience: Yeah, I love this place. The building is magnifique. Friendly staff. Lot's of variety of routes and a good number of auto belays.

Fantastic experience: Fun climbs in a gorgeous building. Lots of rental gear and a wide range of routes with varying difficulty. This seems to be the best option for rope climbing in Manchester. They have a spot to lock your bike indoors. Slightly expensive in my opinion but so is everywhere else.

Positive experience: Incredible background and walls with decent heights. However, the reception place seemed quite understaffed. That poor guy basically has to handle all the tasks. While he appeared somewhat grumpy, it’s understandable given the constant influx of new requests.

Negative experience: Absolute waste of our time. We drove for 45 minutes to get there only to wait for another 45 minutes to be actually served . We were served by Gareth who literally made drinks , served cakes and served everyone else coming to the desk interrupting his conversation with us multiple times and constantly leaving us waiting. There was no introduction on how to put the harness on, he made us put the harness on and he was asking us what is the correct way of clipping (without being previously showed) then my husband clipped the harness for apparently the wrong part of the belt and instead of just simply showing us the correct way of doing it he said “I can’t pass you guys today” we literally stood there for 45 minutes and our 6 year old started crying. Absolute fail of our Saturday plans for family climbing. Instead we have a sad 6 year old. Disappointed is an understatement of how we feel. Never going back and I definitely would not recommend this place to anyone .

Fantastic experience: Amazing, gorgeous space in an old church. Unfortunately I was alone, so I could only use the 5 auto-belays, but fortunately each one had several routes. I went between 11 am and 1 pm, so it was not too busy. The place is quite big, every nook and cranny is filled with something, be it bouldering walls, a gym or the climbing walls. I hope I'll be able to go back, hopefully with a partner this time to try the other climbing routes! Highly recommend!

Positive experience: Still good but looking a bit tired compared to the newt Oldham and Leeds walls

Positive experience: Great Wall with some well set out routes and quiet week daytime. Sadly, miserable staff blasting out tunes they want to listen to regardless of the people paying to use the place.

Positive experience: Great climbing gym. If you have friends to climb with, it would be excellent as it is big. I found it hard to meet someone else to belay with, but enjoyed the auto belays.

Fantastic experience: Great experience. Instructor (Rich) was really helpful, showing how to use the equipment safely and giving the kids opportunity to climb various walls whilst giving instructions. Bouldering area was fun too. Two tired but very happy teenagers.

Negative experience: I went today with my partner, they said we needed an induction so we could use the ropes but that wasn't available for 2 days. The only thing we could do was bouldering which was very small and cramped, the receptionist said that when a member of staff becomes available they would be able to show us how to use the machine, after an hour and a half we left as no one had came to help us as they were helping experienced climbers and pratically ignored us. They wasn't very welcoming to first time climbers and I don't think I would go again. The shoes were also very smelly and there was a couple of people rock climbing without shoes and socks which is a bit grim.

Fantastic experience: A really beautiful place! Suitable for top rope but not for bouldering. The bouldering area is small♥️

Positive experience: Very small bouldering area which all have the same style and boring. The grading is confusing. The building is interesting and I like it. Coffee is okay. Not a place for boulders, but for lead climbers.

Positive experience: A great location, we only bouldered but would like to return for the rope climbing. Unfortunately my experience with the receptionist has led to the 3 stars. Put a smile on your face!! Just bad vibes, not an warming welcome - considering it was our first time at the venue. Much prefer Blockhaus, service with a smile!

Fantastic experience: My daughter had her 6th birthday party here. Stunning building. The activities were fun, engaging and all the kids had opportunity to have a decent climb. Staff were patient and friendly with parents and kids alike. Party room a bit small but we were forewarned. My daughter interested in taking climbing up now. Highly recommend.

Fantastic experience: Completed the introduction to climbing course tonight with a friend. Asher was a perfect teacher; informative, supportive and encouraging. Felt completely safe during the course and was a great experience climbing whilst learning about the different types of equipment. Would definitely recommend.

Fantastic experience: Excellent setting with some great routes to climb. Kind, friendly staff who are always there to help. My only gripe is the music choice! Stop playing spa music and give us something motivational! Even a bit of abba for christ sake!

Fantastic experience: My absolute favourite place to climb, MCC/Parthian has rescued my sanity and fitness on more occasions than I can count! I began climbing in earnest at the beginning of 2021, spending many days/hours a week on the walls here, problem-solving, building strength and generally releasing the stress of life in what has become an enduring passion. In the many months since buying a membership, my own gear and becoming a regular, I've made numerous climbing friends. It's always wonderful to see familiar faces, and watch them as they succeed in their goals. The feeling of achievement and the full body workout from climbing is second to none - it's helped me gain and maintain weight for the first time in my life, while being the fittest I have been in all my near 40 years! Parthian and the people who work and frequent it, have been the safe haven and support network I needed during lockdown. As a trans person it can be difficult to feel confident and comfortable in large groups or venues, but I've always felt supported, welcome and happy, here. I hope very much I can share my passion for this place and sport with people, for years to come. 5/5 - thoroughly recommend!

Positive experience: Hard to check out when leaving, the culture there is very bro heavy. Climbing area is cramped when busy. Building is nice.

Fantastic experience: Parthian climbing is a great place to enjoy top rope, lead and auto belay style climbing. The centre also has a small section for bouldering as well which is a lot fun. The centre is well managed and the instructors are professional and friendly. Wide variety of courses to learn how to climb and to build skills to the more advanced levels. There is also the Climbing Clan social group that meets there every Wednesday which is very friendly and welcoming.

Fantastic experience: Happy with the facilities and the staff. It is in an old church so it's pretty on the Inside. I like the fact the equipment is included in the membership so makes things easier the first months or till you decide if you do in the end to buy your own shoes, harness etc. I would recommend. Gotta try the cafe next time. There is also space for the bikes so all and all happy with my decision to get me started in this sport here.:)

Negative experience: Booked a climbing induction for two adults online and paid £30, on the day of the induction one of us fell ill. Would not refund the money. Have subsequently decided not to take the kids here for their inductions. Cutomer service extremely poor and very rude on the phone. Do not go here. Could anyone please recommend another climbing facility in the Manchester area thank you.

Fantastic experience: A friend was dropping some leaflets off and I just went in to have a look round. What an excellent use of space but still retaining the characteristics of the church building.

Fantastic experience: My 5 year old son did the 4-8 child's introduction and it was simply amazing. The instructor (Sam) was so good. I've actually booked to bring my son back next week.

Fantastic experience: Had an amazing time today on the intro to climbing course with Lewis. Me and my partner loved every minute of it. Lewis was very informative and knowledgeable on climbing and helped us every step of the way. We will definitely be back again.

Fantastic experience: Great climbing! Good very high lead climbs, with nice setting (grades are ok for the long leads, on the easy side for most topropes). Nice bouldering with regular route chsnge. Training area with campus, fingerboards, etc. Very friendly regular visitors.

Positive experience: Really great lead climbing, staff were very friendly and helpful, the route-setting was good. The sign-up process felt a little bit tedious, and the bouldering was well set but limited. Would love to go back though, and would recommend.

Positive experience: I love climbing here. Lovely staff, informative, friendly. There are great climbs for everyone and autobelays if you're on your own. I think the bouldering area is lacking a little for beginners but if you're a good climber you'll have no complaints. Its tall ceiling makes for some great bigger climbs too.

Fantastic experience: Amazing place to go for Climbing. Outside is the cathedral church but inside is Climbing wall. Staffs are really friendly and helpful. Not so many autobelay lanes. For me I have problem to belay partner due to health problem.

Fantastic experience: Best of the North West climbing centres, top route setting and good coffee. Parking good but dodgy once beyond the fences.

Fantastic experience: Really good climbing wall. The building is amazing, the staff are nice and there's a lot of different walls

Fantastic experience: Cool climbing gym. They have a cafe with cakes/coffee etc. Two bouldering rooms; around 4 auto-belays, lead and top rope routes. The highest grade top rope route is around 7a after that it seems to be lead, plenty of lower grade routes for beginners. There's a communal 'changing' area (more just for swapping shoes etc) and then male/female changing rooms in their respective toilets. Being an old church there's some great long routes plus it's a nice place to climb in too. Small training area with two beast makers (1000 & 2000) and campus board. It can be cold when you arrive but once you start climbing it's not a problem.

Fantastic experience: I love this place! It's basically a church transform in a climb center. You can boulder or climb with ropes. No worries if you are a beginner, I climb first time here with ropes with a friend and there is lots of routes for all levels. You can hire all the equipment and you are free to climb if you are with someone experienced.

Positive experience: I did the beginners course here as the last time i climbed was in primary school. The staff and amazing and ALWAYS willing to help and offer advice. The beginners class covered: Knots and rope-work Belaying Correct use of equipment Climbing technique I can now climb the walls and bolder unsupervised and can belay for someone. Well worth a visit if your a climber and in the area or if you wish to learn.

Positive experience: Nice big climbing walls with lots of different skill levels, but can get a bit busy in the early evenings.

Fantastic experience: Really nice spot to practise climbing with lots of routs and boulders already set up. Really friendly and helpful staff.

Negative experience: My daughter really enjoyed her lessons and made it up to Nicas level 3. Sadly I was then told she has to attend every week (I can only attend every other week) or pay full fees for the course - in other words paying for lessons she can't make, even though the course was nowhere near full. I've now been forced to cancel which is a real shame.
