Healthiness is a non-profit health and exercise provider established in 2011. Our mission is to increase physical activity and reduce social isolation of older adults and adults experiencing mental health issues in the Liverpool and Darlington communities through delivering health messages and offering exercise and health education classes across the city. We are a social enterprise company funded by the Big Lottery's Reaching Communities fund (our broad programme), the Henry Smith Foundation (the Healthy Brain, Active Body project) and Sport England in conjunction with NHS England (the ESCAPE-pain programme).

Healthiness Ltd is a not-for-profit health promotion company offering a variety of fitness classes and social opportunities throughout Liverpool and Darlington. Our aim is to improve strength, stability and balance for those aged 50+ or those living with a physical or mental health condition. This includes specialist arthritis rehabilitation programmes, chair-based exercise and aerobics, walking groups, active bingo, boccia, toning and boxercise classes, all of which are fully inclusive and dementia-friendly.
“Attending the escape pain classes has really benefitted me. Made me realise how important it is to look after yourself physically mentally and socially. The exercises themselves have really helped me. Thank you both so much.“ Pat
‘I think the project is brilliant and it has resulted in lots of benefits for our residents. They look forward to their weekly interaction the team. All staff, residents and their families enjoy joining in and learning about their health. Everyone enjoys it so much.’
Healthiness: Opinions
Negative experience: Sounds OK giud walks but don't know if it costs.
Fantastic experience: Referred by physio to the Escape Pain programme, I found that my movement and balance improved. The classes were informal, helpful and enjoyable. So much so that, when the course ended, new Functional Fitness classes were set up as a way of keeping up and improving fitness and wellbeing. Sue and Andy, the trainers, have worked really hard to keep their classes going despite the lockdown/ease/lockdown situations and are to be praised for their efforts and for the positive attitudes they have maintained throughout.
