Experiencia negativa: My son signed up for membership and unbeknownst to him he couldn’t cancel it for one year since he signed up. If he cancelled the membership it would cost him more than paying for the rest of the year.

Experiencia fantástica: They have Learn to Swim lessons 2x a week for 30 min classes. 4-student classes helps with the instructor have more time for each student. Perfect for anyone with a 6yr+ child!

Experiencia positiva: The pool is great for families and the child care service has been amazing! We have enjoyed being members and go at least 1-2x per week. I particularly enjoy the spa amenities and free classes! There are lots of perks - one of them is being able to go to all of the different locations. The south location is not our favorite, though it is the closest to us. It just needs to be bigger for the amount of guests that it serves and needs a lot of updates. Make sure to make a reservation for child care at this location, because it fills up quickly on weekends and evenings. The locker rooms are a big disappointment at this location. They are always dirty (probably because there is not a good system for removing outdoor shoes before going in). There is always something broken or out of order. The women's family locker room is way too small. They just updated the pool area to draw more kids and families in, but the space and facilities that these same people have to shower and change is terrible - just people on top of people. It's particularly bad during the weekend open swims because they are running birthday parties at the same time. Parking is absolutely terrible - there are many times where we are driving around for 10-15 minutes waiting for a spot to open up. All of the AK clubs have a hang out spot for older kids, but I am pretty unimpressed by the space at the South location. The only activity they have that really holds the kids' attention for long is playing video games. There are usually only 1-2 TVs on and running for this because there are no clear instructions for how to operate them, and it's hard to figure out how to turn them on and get the systems working. A lot of times it's a bunch of kids fighting over 2 TVs. The front desk staff is no help - they don't know how to turn them on either. If my kids did not go to the child care center, I would not really want to bring them to hang out there while I did my workout. I see a lot of kids go in there with their own tablets and headsets, which is fine, but quite misses the whole point of going to the gym. I wish they had more hands on and active activities for the kids to choose from. The big issue is probably that the room they have is so small.

Experiencia positiva: Our family has been Alaska Club members for over 24 years. Overall, we are very happy with it and have used many of the available activities...including prenatal aqua class, camps, kids play center, swim lessons, racquetball, pickleball, personal training, cardio and weight room, fitness classes, etc. I use primarily the South club, and one of the things I like about it is the availability of adult locker rooms. However, hardly a visit goes by when there aren't at least a couple kids in the adult locker room. Talking to staff about the kids in the locker room has absolutely zero effect. I have multiple times told staff about kids in the locker room, only to come back from my workout to find them still there. The staff who clean and fill towels, etc., also don't ever say a word to those with kids in the adult locker room. On occasion I will say something to the parents who have kids in the locker room, but that doesn't always go very well. That should be the responsibility of The Alaska Club South, but the staff there just seem to regularly turn the other cheek when it comes to this topic. It's still a great gym, and we will keep going. However, I will really appreciate the day that The Alaska Club South can get it together regarding enforcing the rules regarding the adult locker rooms.

Experiencia fantástica: I have been a member of the Ak Club since 2012! I live closest to the South club so that is the one I use the most. It has been a great place for me to keep in shape with many different options for group fitness (my personal favorite), cardio and weight training, racquetball courts, and the pool is a nice perk especially for my kids. I've also made use of the tanning, vitality booth (red light therapy), hydromassage and regular massage. There is really something for everyone!

Experiencia positiva: This is a great facility. It can be a bit crowded at times but the setup is spot on. I’ve learned to avoid the weight circuit areas from 9 to 11 am, since the sit on the equipment and read your phone crowd loves that time. The Pickelball scene is good.

Experiencia fantástica: I’ve updated my previous review after spending more time at the facility and interacting with additional staff. I was especially impressed by Jared, the manager, who was kind, patient, and very receptive to the concerns I shared. He addressed them promptly and thoughtfully and made me feel like a valued member. I’m also very grateful for the lifeguards on staff. They are friendly, professional, and clearly take their roles seriously, which makes a big difference for families. My only ongoing challenge is the limited parking, and I genuinely wish there were even more of these outstanding lifeguards on duty. Overall, I’m hopeful and appreciative of the efforts being made.

Experiencia positiva: I absolutely love Alaska Club and have been going for years. As the company has grown and added a hot yoga studio, splash park, and now have the trampoline park it has been amazing to be able to use the facility with my family. The only thing that stands out as an issue for me is specifically South Club locker rooms. Now that they are gearing their business to gain more families there is way more people in the family locker rooms. The family locker rooms also have smaller lockers which make no sense since if you have kids you end up having way more stuff. They should structure more like East and allow families in the larger locker rooms and have the old family lockers be 21 and over section or something like that.

Experiencia negativa: I am beyond disappointed with the service at this gym. I pay hundreds of dollars a month specifically for the convenience of the childcare/daycare services, yet I have been turned away twice now. The issues center entirely around one staff member, Stephanie. During my previous visit, she stopped me to ask if I had a reservation before telling me she would "let it slide" this time. However, I watched her immediately check in a white mother right after me without asking for a reservation or any proof of booking. Today, I drove all the way here only to be turned away again. Stephanie claimed there is a "two-baby maximum" because she was working alone—a "rule" I have never encountered with any other staff member, nor is it consistently enforced. The core issues: • Inconsistency: Rules seem to be made up on the spot or applied only to certain members. • Targeted Treatment: Seeing other members bypass the "requirements" I’m grilled on is unacceptable and feels discriminatory. • Lack of Resolution: When I brought this to management’s attention, I was handed "guest passes." I am already a high-paying member; guest passes do nothing to compensate for the gas, time, and childcare I am paying for but being denied. If you are looking for a gym that treats its members equitably and honors the services you pay for, look elsewhere. I expect a much higher standard of professionalism for the price of this membership.

Experiencia negativa: The AK Club states their policy is no children of the opposite gender in the locker rooms. Individual family locker rooms are available for say, a dad with a 6 year old daughter, or the mom that tonight took her son that had to be around 8 years old in the women’s locker room. I have seen women have full on screaming matches over boys obviously over 5 years old being in the women’s locker room. If you tell the teenagers at the front desk they’ll just say “yeah, we hear that a lot” and then nothing happens.

Experiencia positiva: Love the spin instructor Amber and I keep coming back for her! Unfortunately the equipment leaves something to be desired. A fan in the room has been broken for months, some bike adjustments are frozen and handlebar or seat height can’t be adjusted, one bike with a computer that doesn’t work at all. I have alerted front desk and membership to these issues with no resolution despite waiting 3+ weeks. Frustrating to pay so much for membership and not have equipment live up to expectations.

Our swim team was able to continue training while the pool on base was closed, which was a massive boost for morale as well as fitness. We are tremendously grateful for the club’s support.

Experiencia fantástica: I was in Anchorage, Alaska for 5 days for a conference and I took my young son's along (11 and 13) with me.I figured we'd go to a couple of movies and maybe an arcade or something..I discovered that the Alaska club had a sweet little indoor Water Park..It was fun from the second we met the staff.They welcomed us, and seeing as we were not members ,they charged a very reasonable fee(less than a movie).They had shorts ,goggles ,ice cold drinks and the best uncrustables in the Western Hemisphere!!They had many locker rooms for the boys and it was very clean & unlimited towels!!I went down waterslides,we laughed floated,steamed,sauna, unlimited showers with soap and shampoos.I took a break from swimming because I'm old and discovered the message section..I can't say enough nice things,it really made our vacation a great one and the boys love Alaska because of it.We went 3 days out of the 5 and I had an Olympic sized swimming pool to myself for an hour..I did 25 laps on my back and laughed .It was almost a religious experience.I thank the staff at the front desk and the guy keeping the towels clean and dry.We spent 18 hours there and want more..It's pretty much the best place in Anchorage, Alaska.Next time I get up there,The Alaska club is my first stop ..even before the hotel.I wish the Alaska club was around the world..All wars would cease instantly.Thank you so much!

Experiencia fantástica: We love Alaska Kids camp. Our boy always comes home tired after jumping for an hour and swimming for 2 every day. And for us we love that we can sign up by individual day, as we don't usually need childcare coverage every day of the week! The south Anchorage location is also great for us.

Experiencia fantástica: The staff was great with kids. My 7 year old got plenty of socialization and exercising every day. She loved the camp staff and still hugs friends she sees in the community from camp. It’s also more affordable than many of the other day camp programs out there. It’s a great investment!

Experiencia positiva: The equipment is old even though they are charging all this money. Some of the machines you cant adhust to your body or fit on no matter what level you do. They are not made for all body types or heights. The short latino guy over at the summit side is rude and impatient with you if he doesnt know you. He speaks to some patrons who i guess he likes but he doesnt speak to everyone that walks in and acts like you are bothering him and wasting HIS time even though you are paying $161 a month to be there. They could update the locker rooms as well and not have the towels be so rough. In the womens locker room they dont refill the soap shampoo conditioner bottles and they let the asian women talk loud and yell in the sauna and hot tub and steam room area. Its not a quiet zone. For some reason these older women take it as a community center to habg out and talk loud to each other so you cant relax. They also break the rules putting on their eucalyptus oil and body oils in the sauna and steam room and suffocating you with the smells..they could do a better job cleaning this area as well. Even though most of the women who come here appear to be 50 plus, they are not clean and leave their hair and other things all in the showers. Its like a college dorm experience instead of a luxury one. Noone is there to help you learn how to use these old weight and cardio machines. And the wifi cuts off all the time so youre music and things while working out buffers and slows. Also they dont tell you that the classes have limited availabilitt and are mostly for retired people only offered at 5am and 9am whsn theb younger people are working. You will hardly be able to go to all of the classes that you want. Also the summit gym is not 24/7 so you have to try to get everything done by 9pm or 7pm on the weekends. I want to upgrade my fitness so i am trying this but they really have their nerves charging these prices for this old outdated place. The app doesn't work even though they have these posters up about the app and they dont tell you about the apps and all of the services avail. I have the app and its useless you're not able to see when classes are. I've had to ask people around the gym for help because the employees either aren't interested or don't seem to know what to do. When you mention that you have an appointment with someone they seem so lost and or they can't find the person or contact the trainers or seem to know who the other staff members are. I feel so bad for the people that have to work with the short guy over on the summit side- he doesn't talk to his coworkers or help train them. He only steps in to tell them what they are doing wrong. I'm going to rotate around to some of the other locations to see if they are maybe a bit different. If you have to go to the website still for everything what is the point of the app and the website is confusing it's like they're trying to keep you from enjoying all of the full benefits of membership. Youre not able to book the massage or facials thru the app and you need another app to connect the tv and music to your phone. There are not tvs to look at working at so youre Just staring at a gray wall the whole time unless you play around w the ridiculous fetch app thing to watch tv on the machines. I'm annoyed. The t3chnology in the gym and on the website is soooo old.... you would think we were back in 1995. After you sign up they just abandon you to figure all of it out on your own. Alsonthey advertise facial and massage but have no availability at all. It makes no sense. And there is no staff or access to the sauna/steam room or summit side during"after hours". They should be able to find staff to be at least at the front desk of each side if nothing else

Experiencia fantástica: I love how this is set up more for the children, has more slides and other kid water toys. Plus the sauna and steam rooms are better than the East Alaska Club. This site also has a warm pool, for those who get cold easily.

Experiencia negativa: Terrible management for a gym. The men’s locker room smells like piss and it’s likely from the used urinal cakes they put in locker room trash. I brought this to the attention of Jared who was the manager and he angrily waved it off saying trash was going to be taken out soon. The guy visibly looked pissed off that I even brought this up in the first place A small example of the lack of attention to detail and it shows unfortunately.

Experiencia negativa: The camp didn’t do a good job of explaining the schedule or toileting plan to younger campers. The counselors seemed to be there to watch over the children and not engage with them. I had to force my child to go daily for the week he was signed up for camp.

Experiencia fantástica: I love the Alaska club summer program for my son. I especially like the fact that he gets to go to fly every day and jump for an hour and go swimming for over an hour and a half every day. He gets plenty of exercise, he really enjoys it. My son loves to swim and he loves fly so the fact that both of these are included in the Summer Camp program is absolutely wonderful. I highly recommend them.

Experiencia fantástica: We've been now to a summer camp and winter break camp and our son absolutely has a blast. There camps are really geared towards kids with lots of energy because they do a lot of physical playing. Which our son loves it. If you have a high energy kid and want him to get the most of his summer, send them to the Alaska Club camp. (Our experience has only been at Alaska Club South camp)

Experiencia fantástica: Hi, regarding yoga schedule. On Tuesday morning there 3 yoga classes in 3 different locations at the SAME time: 10:30 . My suggestion is to spread out these 3 classes even if it’s 30 minutes apart. This way, if you miss one, you can always get to the next one. The way it is right now, if you’re running late , you miss all of them. Thank you.

Additionally I had gone on line and arranged for a free day pass. When I arrived a manager was called. He totally dismissed the conversation I had with the person on the phone. Also giving this a one star since y'all dont have a sign that says "Pool's closed for kids at 1pm - 3pm" which in my opinion thats such a dumb idea to close almost the entire pool beside the hot tubs. For the price of the membership, it should be well maintained. The only thing that is consistent with the south location is how dirty the facility is.

Experiencia fantástica: New member for about a week and everything has been absolutely wonderful! Lindi at membership was so welcoming and answered all my questions about the gym. Emily at the Summit learned my name the first few days and was really cool with customer service. The equipment is nice and the pool w/ the bball court across is an awesome combo for the kids. I love the location with Fly being next door and membership giving free 2 hours to the kiddos - how is this not winning? My current routine: kids to trampoline park while I get my workout on or even just to get a massage and a coffee - Emily told me that I can just hangout in the lounge area for as long as they are open (Summit side). This will most likely be my home gym everytime I visit Anch.

Experiencia negativa: Only the main person of the members plus can utilize any amenities otherwise additional accounts are required an additional funding even if they’re your children and they live in your house, I was told otherwise when I signed up for the membership, also, the hot tub always has a bunch of kids in there unsupervised which has a sign right beside the hot tub that says you must be 14 years or older or a company by an adult. I wouldn’t swim in that hot tub. It looks filthy them kids urinating in that small area with no adult supervision has a weird pissy smell make sure you have some type of format (in writing )= paperwork or =video recording of these people when they disclose faults information just to sign you , You can tell the people that worked there obviously hate their job or try to utilize it by picking up Women at the establishment that come to visit or work out I watched it with my very own eyes right in front of me and my 16yr old daughter very disrespectful!! The front attendance were very rude and disrespectful after that I’m canceling . They will lie too you in a minute to get you to sign up for membership!!! strongly do not recommend.

Experiencia negativa: Going down hill rapidly. You now pay $150+ for a membership and have to listen to radio with commercials blasting in the gym. Please pay for a streaming service without commercials. Update! Still listening to commercials at the MOST expensive gym in Alaska. They also can’t figure out the temp on their sauna after 10 plus years. Zero F’s given by management. Would have tried to leave a request/comment card but they don’t have them at the gym. Shocker. Back to my mid workout McDonalds commercials. Nothing says one more rep like a McRib.

Experiencia positiva: I am editing my previous one start review. I noticed that the floors and equipment were dirty and dusty, and there was marked in broken equipment. Many places. Less than a week later, it looks like they had undergone an extensive cleaning, and brought some organization to the free weights. Experiencia negativa: The basketball gym situation is a joke. High schoolers take over from 4-10pm. You can’t even get a hoop to shoot on because they run games not stop. The employees need to help facilitate the gym better. The Membership Manager Jake is rude and harassed me twice for telling him “he sucked” on how he dealt with a complaint. His words, “we can’t do anything about it”. Good job for the lack of trying Jake.

Experiencia fantástica: Love The Alaska Club! Moved to Anchorage from Florida and at least in the lower 48 you never totally trust a gym, one never knows what games they might play... not here in the AK! This gym is friendly, tons of locations, great staff, clean and great equipment! I can't say enough about The Alaska Club! Let's face it, it's cold out there at least half the year and if you think you're going to go all Rocky Balboa and run up the snow mountain in December... well, guess what... you're not! (cuz it's -20 and mostly we barely want to run through the parking lot to our car) But, you'll probably go to a nice gym, with a sauna and a hot tub! Pay the money, it's welllll worth it!

Experiencia positiva: For the most part the membership payment is worth it if you actually use it. I mainly play racquetball 3-4 times a week, but it is nice to be able to access the other features for stretching and weight training. If I were only lifting, I would probably choose a different gym for the price, but AKC has the racquetball courts, so here I am. Cleanliness in general is good, but if you look deeply, you will see what you don't want to see. (I'm still watching a used razor head that's been in the corner of a shower for weeks now - wear your shower shoes). Repairs tend to take a whiiiile to be addressed (door latches not working right; shower heads/handles; faucets; leaks on racquetball courts)...to the point we members have joked about bringing in our own tools and then just sending an invoice to AKC. But if you wait long enough, they eventually work it out. Staffing in general is good. Nice people for the most part. I think they still need some help, and certainly people who can take pride in their work. I haven't worked with a trainer, so cannot speak to that. Member for at least 7 years now. The racquetball community keeps me there. Love those people!

Experiencia positiva: I generally like the south and w we set club. However you changed the schedule for Saturday spin not being able to make it to power afterwards. That was a disappointment. Experiencia negativa: If you belong to the Summit and are a late afternoon person, you may know me by sight. I have been a member since 2007, most weeks coming to the gym 4-5 times a week. I like the gym and it has some pretty unique features. The snow plowing of the parking lot is so subpar year after year, I have now decided it must be a feature. As you navigate the deep ice potholes you can test your agility. We all know agility is a feature of fitness we all aspire to. That last big snowfall Wednesday through Thursday in early November was not plowed until the weekend. This allowed the snow to pack down to ice that will probably be around until March. They did put down gravel, that either has melted into the ice or been pushed to the low spots, so your agility can still be tested. If you do happen to fall you can access your bone density. Nothing broken or cracked, you are good to go.The Summit provides large fluffy towels that you can use along with some ice from the lemon ice water they have strategically placed around the gym if you fall requires icing. Currently the parking lot light by the entrance is out so you can test your low light vision when you try to determine where the slippery edges of the ice potholes are. The gym can be a bit dirty sometimes, but mostly it’s okay. The Summit has an employee, Helen, that I think of as the locker room ambassador. She is always upbeat and actually works out at the gym so she is very aware of what is needed. She often cleans things that don’t need cleaning everyday, but do need attention. She is an upbeat addition to the locker room. I have worked out consistently for the last 45 years, in many locations across the country. The gym is pretty good, you rarely need to wait for a machine. The online classes are a gift. You can create your own yoga environment anywhere, and take a great class with Xochitl. She is easy to to follow, the workout is always different, and she provides modifications, the online feature is part of membership. So please join our gym so they can be profitable enough to have snow plowing that is comparable to the food store a quarter mile away. I would give the gym 4 or 5 stars if the parking lot was not so dangerous.

You should see that issue rectified immediately. These are shared areas and take a little time to work with the rest of our neighbors to address. Experiencia negativa: The club itself is okay , dirty in the family areas and nicer equipment. Due to being on the more rich side of town., we quit going here because a manager refused to call the police a few years ago on a child predator who was sentenced today for exposing himself to children at this gym. Company morals matter, and I personally don’t want to support a company who cares more about image then the safety of the children in our community. The video evidence was in fact sufficient enough, and multiple children ended up being victims because of this manager not wanting to involve the police early enough.

Sanjay, thank you for the positive review. We passed your comments on to the Summit management team. The club adjacent to the Summit is open 24 hours and has a large selection of workou equipment for those times that you really need to get your workout in.

Experiencia negativa: The equipment is rarely maintained, things just seem to be falling apart here. The staff don’t seem friendly. Would not recommend.

Experiencia fantástica: Great place to workout. Sadly the pool is closed during the night, which is understandable. But lots if equipment and room to get a good workout in.

Experiencia fantástica: Best Gym in Alaska convenient locations all over the map and they have mango bang energy drinks on demand ! Haters are gonna hate most are probably planet fitness bots your not going to find a swimming pool or hot tub at the other dry crusty gyms in town.

Experiencia negativa: They will harass you if you inquire about their “club”. Called for my father to ask how much it would cost to lap swim for 3 months since they don’t post any fee information on their website. Brooke answered the phone and apparently had her own intentions since it took over 5 minutes of repeating myself before she finally told me the cost. I promptly ended the phone call. 2 days later I received a text from her which I blocked immediately. 2 days after that she called my phone from a different number and left a lengthy message trying to promote the gym. I never gave her my phone number. I can only assume she pulled it from caller id. Very unprofessional and disturbing. Update: as you can see from their response below, they only think what they did was inappropriate because I was calling on someone else’s behalf. Even if I was the inquiring party it’s still harassment and a disgusting business practice. Double shame on you.

Experiencia positiva: Enjoy the atmosphere. Staff is friendly. Sometimes locker room floors are a little dirty. Ricky and Adrienne are awesome. Enjoy the morning group. Would be nice if some kind of shading or blind could be put on the windows in the cardio room. Sun is really bright when riding the bikes. The top third of the windows would be sufficient.

Experiencia fantástica: South Alaska Club was such a memorable first experience. The dynamic community is so welcoming and presented an environment I want to be a part of. I had the wonderful experience speaking with Vyvian. She not only gave me such a thorough walkthrough and presentation of the gym, but exposed me to the friendly and warm environment of the Alaska Club. It has made an easy transition to a new fitness environment. I look forward to continuing my experience at this gym, especially with their variety of fitness and rehabilitation equipment. I’m so thankful to be introduced to this Alaska club community by Vyvian! :)

Experiencia negativa: Shameless place (Fairbanks location only) with a shameless general manager Dustin that lies to your face! Been a customer for over 10 years and more than 15 thousand dollars later this place is a joke! They took the tire flip machine apart and when i asked what happened since a lot of us we’re using it James ( office manager ) said there is no space ! Machine was there for years , suddenly no space now in the largest location of all AK club network ! Tried talking to general manager Dustin and he said yeah we’ll try to place it in our heavyweight room but cant now ( maybe a week 2,3 basically told me to get lost)because were busy with the water slide ! Straight lied to my face because and elder gentleman took it apart in 20 minutes ( i was present)while a whole different crew was setting up the slide by the pool! Pretty low as a man to lie let alone as a general manager!
