Experiencia negativa: The fromt desk staff was EXTREMELY RUDE!! I signed in as a returning guest on the iPad to bring my kid to a swimming lesson then was told I had to scan my card. The scanner didn't even work and the lady had to type it in the computer. After telling her how to spell the last name she looked at me like I was the stupid one. Then she didn't even bother trying to spell my kids first name. If you hire people you should make sure they know how to spell. At other clubs they are respectful and have better customer service. The east club should do the same. Especially whrn it's as simple as bringing in a kid for a swimming lesson. The customer service desk staff was as rude as the people a the alaska club for women were when I told them I was old enough to be at tht location.
Experiencia negativa: The worst. Just brought my kids to this east club .. this is the first time we are using free pass. I ask the front desk and they said only for 18 yrs old and above, I remember that that if it's minor then needs parental waiver which I already signed that when we did our membership. They ask me to pay $ 35. I tried to tell them what I understand and won't show me anything about that rule .. well you enjoy that $35 !! guess that's its subtle way of making money •

Experiencia negativa: This club has treated me unfairly as a first time member. Been in AK for a year now. Near the end of my year I was living with a very nefarious roommate who almost killed me. I’m gonna be quite blunt in this review too just so everyone is aware of how Alaska Club treats people who are traumatized. Alaska Club has been therapeutic for me throughout my first year here in Alaska up until December to January. I have done well most of the year up until Thanksgiving week when my roommate almost killed me. I did my best to escape the situation by driving off with my puppies and my electronics. I had to make sacrifices along the way to save us from driving off a cliff and ending up dead in the vehicle at the bottom of the cliff. It was a very painful decision to make that I am still very sad about. At least we all survived. I had to bring the electronics because the police can’t track my location and find me if I don’t bring all them with me since they’re all Apple products with thier tracking issues. I had evidence on my GoPro of some of the filthy behavior from the roommate. Pretty sure he stole that because I can’t find it. That’s beside the point though. Alaska Club clearly doesn’t cater to people who are actively traumatized and trying to work through it by utilizing the gym as therapy. I am on BetterHelp seeing a therapist while I’m trying to sift through all of this trauma. If you’re looking for a Gym that caters to post traumatic stress disorder, this is probably not your gym. While I was living in the traumatic environment and still going through it, I had about 2 to 3 moments where I couldn’t take it because of my poor involuntary diet. Everyone knows that if you don’t eat, you’re not yourself. Via the term hangry. I went to college for personal fitness training, so I’m very aware of my health condition and that I’m not myself lately. The Gym could afford to be a little more empathetic to people dealing with active trauma. My request to the Gym is to get rid of my file and delete all notes that they’ve made. I’ve seen the notes myself and I’m not OK with them having notes about me on that file. Also, there is a safety concern with my legal information that I have requested Dennis get rid of. I’ll be paying him a visit and taking him to court if he decides not to remove the documents I told him to shred. Thank you for being the worst gym in Alaska for PTSD individuals. I’ll only get rid of this review If the Gym continues to keep me as a member. So long as they decide to not keep me as a member, though this review will be up. You treat the community members with PTSD this way. Wow just wow.

I was not aware and it would've been a lot nicer to know that before getting charged $240 out of nowhere. also, please clean the hot tub, some of the bubbles are literally brown and its been like that for 2 weeks now. the hole next to it is caked in gunk too. that's definitely not okay to sit in at this point. thank you

Experiencia fantástica: Every time I come into this gym I am welcomed like a family member. I had my sons 1st birthday party here in their child center. Though it is on the smaller side, its perfect for little kids. With a ball pit, slides, and plenty of age appropriate toys. The women that helped us were Lauryn & Terri-anne, they were so helpful and had everything ready before I even had to ask. Such a great experience, and a fantastic perk to have child care while working out as well. The ladies that work there are so upbeat and always put a smile on my face. Thank you AK Club!

Experiencia negativa: If there was a 0 star I would! Customer service is horrible. The closing female manager Kenzie was RUDE! Employees in general need to be trained on proper work ethic and customer service! This is not the first time me being treated like a 5 cent for a $250 gym membership. Over priced for a facility with equipments that aren’t even well maintained! Alaska Club East YOU NEED TO DO BETTER!

Experiencia negativa: Lauren at the front desk, was very RUDE!! Disrespectful, entitled, and chopped!! Over all the AK club should be shut down. These reviews are outrageous!! 2.1 stars on Apple Maps!! CRAZY WORK! Doesn’t seem like they care about their customers AT ALL! And their gym equipment is ancient and they still charge $30 for a day pass!! OUTRAGEOUS!!!

Experiencia positiva: I go for the half basketball court, which recently isn’t always available due to construction of the building. I hope after the construction is complete that the court hours will be more normal. I got booted from the court one time and I didn’t appreciate the tone of the worker, but otherwise friendly staff and clean facility

Experiencia negativa: FURIOUS! That’s how I feel after a VERY UNPLEASANT VISIT to ALASKA CLUB EAST TODAY. NOW I KNOW WHY ALASKA CLUB EAST HAS POOR REVIEWS… I have been a returned member since spring 2024. I was hoping that my husband would join me in 2026. Toward that end, the Membership Dept. gave me 4 guest passes that expire 12/31/2025. My husband had visited twice with the passes. He had to fill out a cumbersome “guest profile” in order to visit. I questioned this process…and was told at the Desk that “next time” he’ll only have to sign in. Imagine my SURPRISE, when my husband was asked by a Club Worker to SHOW AN I.D. Unfortunately, he didn’t have his license as he had not driven to the club. I did. This was particularly shocking as on the prior 2 visits he had not been asked to “show I.D.” Then, someone called the Operations Mgr., TERRI-ANN KAISER. She stubbornly insisted on SEEING THE I.D. AS MY UPSET INCREASED, more back-up JOINED THE FRAY: the General Mgr., BEN GRIFFITH also insisted on the I.D. even though no one had asked for it at the PRIOR 2 VISITS. The General Mgr. said “well we have a lot of different staff….” His response should have been “We are really sorry: the policy is to show I.D. But, because you have been here twice before, and were A PRIOR MEMBER, we will allow you to enter this time.” We prepared to leave. I reached out for the Guest Pass. Ms. KAISER didn’t want to release it! I LOUDLY PROCLAIMED THAT THE GUEST PASS HAD BEEN GIVEN TO ME…IT WAS MINE and had no one’s name on it and I WANTED IT BACK. After several squawks from me, she finally handed it over. My Membership is $122/month…with my husband it would have been $202/month. THAT’S $2424/YEAR. WOW!! My husband’s membership addition would have been $80/month = $960/year. That’s not chicken feed. He won’t be back now after this MISTREATMENT. His not being able to go to the Club with me has MADE MY LIFE MORE DIFFICULT. It would have been nice to share the Club with him.

Experiencia negativa: This my third visit with my wife and her visitor pass. They refused me entrance because I did not bring my id. I had signed in on the computer but this time it was not good enough for Terri Ann the operations manager?? Ben the General manager back her up stating that is policy?? I never was asked for id before, and all my info is on the computer. This was over the top request in my opinion. My wife drove so I did not bring my wallet. I was ready to rejoin the club but you will never find me stepping foot in that place ever. Shame on the employees.

Experiencia negativa: The childcare is a sad joke. You can’t expect women who watch our kids to make safe decisions when you pay them 10.00 and hour. We were paying over 200 for a family membership plus and you can’t pay decent wages to have some young ladies watch our kids. I can’t blame them at 10.00 and hour for the crappy care my girl received. Take your money and shove it. Not getting mine anymore.
Experiencia fantástica: Every issue so far they are willing to fix and have solutions for. I appreciate them letting me use lap swim for physical therapy. Management could be better but I understand they aren’t perfect.
Experiencia negativa: To Star Hart: What happened to you is not just wrong—it’s a violation of federal law. Under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Title III. The Alaska Club is considered a public accommodation. That means they are legally required to: - Provide equal access to facilities and services for individuals with disabilities. - Make reasonable modifications to policies when necessary to avoid discrimination. - Avoid any practice that excludes or penalizes someone based on disability. Acting Manager Kezia’s actions were discriminatory and dangerous. Comparing you to able-bodied swimmers and denying your right to rest or float safely is not only unethical—it’s illegal. You need to file a formal ADA complaint with the U.S. Department of Justice or the Alaska State Commission for Human Rights! I pay $177 a month for a family membership, at that monthly price they can use money to train staff!!!
Experiencia negativa: My girlfriend just got a membership and she sent guests 7 day VIP passes and we showed up. the colored lady was more helpful and more nicer but the other lady was sort of rude. I think that was a dumb experience and most gyms usually want you to be there and show it but it felt very unwelcoming at first but we didnt mind because we went there to workout. The manager is helpful and friendly. We will continue going or change locations if anything. I just thought Id share

Experiencia negativa: I’m currently a member at The Alaska Club and have become increasingly disappointed with the overall maintenance and management of the East facility. The locker rooms are often dirty, with overflowing towel bins, limited clean towels, and trash or debris scattered about. The weight areas frequently have equipment left out of place, dirty mirrors, and broken machines that remain out of order for extended periods. The pool and hot tub also appear to be cleaned infrequently, which raises concerns about sanitation. To make matters worse, I was overcharged during my first billing cycle and had to contact accounting directly to resolve it, followed by an unexpected membership fee increase. For a gym that charges premium rates, the level of cleanliness and upkeep does not reflect the cost. Even more affordable gyms, such as Planet Fitness, consistently maintain a higher standard of hygiene and equipment care. I truly hope management takes these concerns seriously and prioritizes improvements in cleanliness, maintenance, and customer service.

Experiencia positiva: Womens Locker Room: in need of attention 1. For sanitary reasons, please post bathing suits are required for the hot tub. UPDATE: I urge managemnt to review "Hygiene rules: Anchorage Municipal Code Chapter 16.15 outlines health and sanitation requirements for public swimming pools and spas." I can be more understanding with the steam room and sauna as undressed ladies typically sit on towels. But a hot tub (enclosed body of water) with jets is a different story. Body hair shed from down under and circulating in the water is a displeasing thought when you're sharing it with an undressed lady. 2. All lotions, soaps, etc are offered at a convenience, which is a nice concept. However the quality of these products appears to be over scented for the lotion and synthetic. (FDA does not evaluate to the beauty industry so many products that are not all natural are unsafe–esp bargain grade which they appear to be from use) I understand all-natural products are more costly but worth the investment as they will not cause rashes and other adverse reactions from using them. Derma is the largest organ in our body that absorbs products into the body and for a health club this should be a standard to support all areas of health and wellness in the members entire experience. Other than those notes the steam room is my happy zen place and I very much enjoy the facilities. I hope my feedback is taken into account to protect the safety and health for all female members who frequent the club. Thank you!

Experiencia fantástica: I love this place! The membership staff are always helpful if I have any questions. The cleaning crew is constantly moving around the facility. Marcus at the front desk is very welcoming. I am very excited for the upgrades coming.
Experiencia negativa: I’ve been a member for about 3 days and I’ve been to 3 locations (South,Eagle River and East) Eagle river and south locations are amazing and people there are nice and I haven’t had any problems or complaints at all for those locations. Although the East location is the least favorite one I’ve been to and sadly it seems like it’s the forgotten one and I definitely will never go to that location…. The locker room hot tub had a more gray filth on top of the water and I at least would like to see if there was more that could be done to keep it at least at a good hygienic level and there was multiple men that where wearing nothing while in the locker room hot tub and when I went to go to a staff member regarding it they just shrugged me off and told me to deal with it. And also the locker rooms are more on the dirty side and the showers are extremely small and it smelled like a middle schoolers locker room. But the only good thing that the east location has is a bigger swimming pool but other than that I don’t recommend the east location… Other than that the South and the Eagle River location have been my favorite locations so far and I would love to see the other locations the Alaska Club has to offer. And I would also like it to be a possibility to have a way for people to to do a more longer or even have a way to have lap swim available later during the evenings to use it at our own time and experience.
Experiencia negativa: For some reason some employees here are rude. Specially the front desk this two ladies. Other than that the guy who keeps the towels filled up is awesome and nice. I wonder why management keeps this kind of rude people. Paying 200$ a month and gets treated with rude employee is not good. Im thinking about canceling my membership after i complete the annual membership minimum because of this employee
Experiencia negativa: I have been a member since April and it’s horrible they don’t clean the locker room, people going there sick into the sauna and hot tub , people do everything there not supposed to and staff never says anything 99% of the time the women’s hot tub doesn’t work , children go into this locker room when they aren’t allowed to , staff has nasty attitude. Where the showers our smells like rotten eggs I got sick many times just from going here . It’s all a scam and once you want to cancel they come up with some BS saying we would have to pay 500$ plus that’s crazy stick to planet fitness this is a big waste of money funny thing is they are building the spa outside how they gonna keep that up when they can’t even maintain in inside. It’s just a scam to get people in. Horrible place!!!

Our locker rooms, pools, and spa areas are cleaned and inspected multiple times daily by both housekeeping and management staff. If you ever encounter an issue, we encourage you to bring it to the front desk so we can address it immediately.
Children are not permitted in the adult locker rooms. If this occurs, staff will intervene when notified.
Our hot tubs and sauna are monitored daily, and while we occasionally experience maintenance downtime, it is not accurate to say they are “never working.”
Membership cancellations are handled according to the signed agreement, which outlines terms clearly at the time of joining. Fees only apply under specific circumstances, and our staff are always available to review those details with members.
We understand frustrations can happen, but it’s important to us to provide a positive and safe environment for all members. We’d appreciate the opportunity to speak with you directly and work toward resolving your concerns.

Experiencia negativa: Building is tired and grimy. Equipment as old as me. Hair and grime all over locker rooms and scratchy minuscule hand towels being touted as an amenity. Lukewarm hot tubs with creepy older women that really enjoy the jets….
Experiencia negativa: This is the worst of the Alaska clubs and I've seen so far the staff is on their phones don't greet don't say anything to you and they don't care about helping you or greeting you as you walk through the hall. they see that you look lost and they don't bother to ask if you need any help. I had to keep going to the membership office with the very tall white guy to ask questions because i was lost and he seemed so irritated that I was asking him for his help. I told him it's my first time being at this location. he just was sitting there not wanting to get up off his phone. to know to be fair he did walk me to the women's locker room but i had to go back again and he had an attitude about it the layout here is really weird there aren't any maps to tell you where anything is there's no visuals so you know where to go at least. they can have TV monitors or something to direct you to where things are in this weird layout. You have to go upstairs to the cardio and weight equipment but that's not enough you have to keep Crossing through all these different rooms to get to what you want to do you have to walk past all these people and cross through people who are going around and around on the indoor track just to get to the weight machines and then they've got the weights all disorganized arms and legs and chest and everything is just mixed all in together the cardio machines are off to themselves. there weren't any towels left so we have to walk all around to the different bins to trying to find towels. There wasnt enough disinfectant spray either. I don't think there is anyone managing this facility, it's poorly run. When you go into the women's locker room that's all broken up weirdly too the bathrooms are separated off in a cramped front space and you have to go around the wet slippery floor to all the different compartments for the lockers and sauna. everything seems so hidden and there's no one monitoring the floor or putting up wet floor signs people's slosh their water all over the locker rooms. the water pressure in the bathroom is poor so it's hard to flush the toilet or wash your hands they don't seem to give any you know what's at this place. There were loose children running around all over the place even upstairs in the weight area where the equipment is not child friendly. I told them it was my first time at this location no one offered to give me a quick tour or anything the water machine the fill up your water bottle was in the hidden place way across the track upstairs I tried to call in advance to see what kind of snacks that they had to see if it was like the summit location I'm a girl couldn't even tell me what they sell.. when I got there I saw that the snack coolers and stuff is right in front of her I don't understand the laziness. Noone gives a damn. Also there was no air conditioning or ventilation in this entire building I was sweating to death all over the place because it was just hot like they had the heaters on in every room I went in the cardio room to work on I'm the machines I was down there touching the ceiling and I'm not even tall I'm under 5'5 even being that high close up to the ceiling I couldn't feel any air conditioning or fans or anything on. This building seems like a zoning and fire violation but maybe they don't have any rules here because it's alaska. I didn't see any emergency exits or windows that you could open to get air coming in. They also let people record and make videos in the middle of the weight room while people are trying to work out and people are in there making instagram videos and things in the damn workout area. I also called to see if there was a lost and found and the guy said no there wasn't he didn't even bother to see what I was looking for and I realized that there's no lost and found because the employees are other people are just stealing stuff out of the lockers.. why charge people a hundred and something dollars if you're not going to give a damn I was disappointed in this location.
Experiencia fantástica: Updated Review: Upon requesting they fix their stair masters, they immediately got the three machines operational. They also called me to confirm they had fixed the machines. Not a lot of small businesses take action that fast to satisfy their customers. This all took place within about 48 hours. So, Kudos to their team. I've been a customer of this gym for about 3 years now. Overall I have been happy with both their East & West gym location. Original Review: Please for the love of god fix your stair stepper machines at East location. Three out of the seven steppers (all on the left hand side) don't work. What is the point of having equipment that literally does not work and is broken? Sell some elliptical machines or something. (I left this review after getting frustrated that I had to hop on 4 different machines in order to begin my workout.)

Experiencia negativa: We signed up with Alaska Club South. We explained to the rep that we were only interested in being able to work out with our three girls, 6, 8, and 10. He gave us a tour and told us what we could do with the kids. Not much but it was enough. He said East had more for the kids to include the track. We toured East the next day. Again we specifically said we were only interested in things we could do with our daughters. Again we were told we could use the track. This was huge for us as we wanted someplace to walk in the winter. The second day we used the track some guy walking around with a clipboard stopped me while running to catch up to one of my girls. Turns out he was the CEO. Robert. I was already irritated that he stopped me from catching my daughter and interrupted the fun we were having. Then he is surprised that I am not happy to be talking to him. He said our kids are not allowed on the track. No one under 12 is allowed on the track. The only place kids can go is the play room. The whole reason for us to sign up is to get our girls off their butts and get moving. He said that we had to stay with the girls if we wanted to use the track. We can’t run on our own. Later after he talked to some staff he came up to me. I said that when he stopped me I was running to catch up with one of our girls. He said in a disparaging tone, “I didn’t know you were trying to do that.” What I heard is, “yeah, that’s a lie”. The irony is that the only time I didn’t know where she was and what was happening was when he stopped me to tell me I had to stay with her. At that point my whole family was together except the youngest. She was doing a lap all on her own because Robert stopped me and wouldn’t let me go after her. He caused the very thing he was trying to tell me I couldn’t do. Before he stopped me I knew where she was at all times and knew what she was doing. Fortunately this happened within the first 14 days of our membership and we were able to cancel it without a penalty. The CEO, Robert, has no idea how irritating it is to interrupt someone in the middle of their workout. He also didn’t seem to care if you cancel your membership because of his actions.

Experiencia negativa: I had high hopes for Alaska Club especially since this is the most expensive membership I’ve purchased, but my experience has been nothing short of disappointing. The operational problems are numerous, often leading to long waits for equipment that is frequently out of service. Additionally, the staff seem overwhelmed and unhelpful. Cleanliness is another major issue. The locker rooms and workout areas often feel neglected, with equipment not being properly sanitized and trash left lying around. I expected a clean and motivating environment to work out in, but unfortunately, that has not been the case. Overall, I cannot recommend Alaska Club at this time. I really wish they had LA Fitness here, best gym ever and I only paid $30 a month for a better experience than what I’ve experienced.

Experiencia negativa: I pay over $200 for membership. I left out of town for work and returned to find my locker was cleaned out. I just began membership two months ago and I had my lock. The salesman that signed us up never mentioned a cost for locker use. All to come back and find they took all my belongings (my swim goggles, caps, knee brace, sandals, and more) and the front desk girl said they don’t keep things for long (and I know this means they take what they find). I was gone in a week and they didn’t hold my things for long enough. They wouldn’t throw brand new equipment (I just started swimming). At least make it seem like you guys don’t steal the belongings by giving at least two weeks before you all take them. Edit: called to cancel because of the $298 charge and them cutting my lock and taking my belongings. They’re charging me over $500 to cancel. They don’t even bother to ask why and what they could do better. No company policy on holding lost and found items, and the employee said things don’t usually stay in the bin that long…how can someone properly identify 3 swim goggles, 3 swim caps, a knee brace, leave-in conditioner, and other personal items? Usually this is because the employees take them. I recommend YMCA if you’re looking to swim. It’s only $6/swim as opposed to $180/mo.

Experiencia negativa: I’ve been a member of the Alaska Club for several years now, and I appreciate the convenience of having a variety of amenities and equipment available in one facility. The range of offerings, including workout spaces, classes, and amenities, makes it a great option for staying active. That said, there are several areas that could use significant improvement. One major issue is the towel availability in the 24-hour locker rooms. If you're working out outside normal hours, it’s almost guaranteed that you’ll need to bring your own towel. This has been an ongoing issue that hasn’t been resolved, which can be frustrating for members who expect a stocked facility. Another concern is the overall cleanliness of the facility, especially the locker rooms. The floors are often lined with dirt and hair, and many of the lockers themselves have trash or hair left behind. I would highly recommend wearing flip-flops while in the locker rooms due to the cleanliness issues. It’s hard not to wonder if the facility is being cleaned thoroughly and regularly. Additionally, the responsiveness of the staff has been lacking. On multiple occasions, I’ve found them unapproachable when notifying them about issues such as broken shower heads, empty soap dispensers, or towel shortages. It would go a long way if the staff were more attentive and proactive in addressing these concerns. Despite these issues, I do enjoy working out at the Alaska Club, I only wish they would take more pride in maintaining the facility and improving customer service. Listening to and addressing member feedback could make a big difference.
Experiencia negativa: Update 10 August 2024 - Instead of removing my made up owed amount the fearless leader, Genevieve Auelua. Sent it to Collectors/Collections. Never Entered this Building as a Guest or Gym Member.... But that doesn't stop this multi-million dollar business from taking legal action against me for < $500 !? Between the phone calls, letters, legal advocate, time and lies to get me to pay a bill for an unused membership is Bonkers and Bad Business practice. Plus it feels like at this point your stopping of the effort to get me to pay a bogus claim of membership would save you over $500 a month. More than you say I owe. JS and Your Welcome. The attitude alone from a phone call a week after alerting them that I may be interested for my family to join was reason number 1. Why we or I would never join alaska club! I might remove this truthful and negative comment if they drop their ridiculous < $500 made up claim of a bill. As A Retired and Disabled Army - Iraqi Freedom War Veteran. I Do expect better from a gym in America to be more understanding and less demanding of someone to pay for an ice cream they never held or licked let alone seen. Will continue to update as they continue to spend more money than they say I owe. Any Response from less than a Manager with actual "helping this sito" power will be dismissed quickly with prejudice. Update 5 Sept 2025 , Collections has called me to inform me that even without ever signing up for any services or ever even going inside the club, that I still owe $425+ for nothing. Can Anyone Help?!? A Lawyer, Lawmaker? Maybe I should contact my senator or congressman? This is the most ridiculous way to run a business. They have no signature or contract and can send it to collection because they are what hurting for money?, proving a point?, or just plain greedy??? Reaching out to BBB today. How can they get away with this???
Experiencia negativa: Went to the east club for the first time yesterday… it was HORRIBLE ! My parents got a tour and thought it was cool so we brought the kids yesterday…. Not kid friendly AT ALL ! We went into the locker room got kicked out because it was 14 and older no one told us or even showed up where the other locker room was …. Nothing was even labeled well ! The employee he kicked us out was SO RUDE ! And the “family locker room” was GROSS compared to their other one … it was rusty and so sad looking … my 2 year old also slipped and fell on their tile floor witch has never happened at the BEAUTIFUL south ak club ! They also don’t let any young kids in the pool after open swim witch is so far from what your can do at south club ! Kids can be in splash pad , kiddo end of pool and warm pool at south witch makes it sooo family friendly ! But east we got a whole 5 minutes to swim once we FINALLY got where we needed to we were so happy to leave and will NEVER BE COMING BACK ! the ak club EAST NEEDS TO DO BETTER !

Experiencia negativa: I’ve been a member at the Alaska club for quite some time. I always go to the eagle river location and this east location is something else. This facility has become a nasty place to work-out. One of the worst place to workout on my opinion. To talk about the filth of this place is out of hand. My wife prefers the women’s only club or the location in downtown. I always check the showers before I use them, found nothing but bodily fluids and built up goo. I’d make sure to always bring sandals to wear in the shower. The equipments there aren’t even worth your money. I had to make a complaint to the front desk frequently and yet they still haven’t done anything about it. I had to make a big complaint to their manager Roland as well, my daughter found a towel with fecal-stains as if other members were using it to wipe their rear and still has not done anything to fix the issue. This was totally unacceptable. Me and my wife & kids bring our own towels now. So much for their so-called industrial washing machines is from what I was told. Their clean team is a big joke, they do not keep their maintenance clean. One employee named Parker was vacuuming with a very filthy vacuum. I was changing my clothes after my workout and smelled nothing but mold and debris coming out of their vacuum. I believe they do not check their vacuum filters. Also saw him pouring the stuff they use to clean their sinks in their mop buckets on my way out the door. Wrong solutions to clean the floors. Huge OSHA-issue in my opinion. I wouldn’t want my teenagers working there. I would try to avoid drinking from their fountain, drinking-water coming out of a rusty fountain and chewed up bottle caps found in the drain. I recommend other members to bring their own water for the safety of their health. I was also fined for triggering an alarm in the main locker room for trying to get my stuff when the door was unlocked because of false information from an employee. Only thing me and wife enjoys is their tennis court. The least cleanest place you can play on. Horrifying place to workout.
Experiencia positiva: Love the size of this gym, and that there is room to move. Issue with being open 24 hours, is that the weight room can be a train wreck in the morning sometimes. People are just lazy and don't pick up after themselves. Have found people who are not members in the gym, they most likely are let in by other people. Kind of scary to find someone sleeping in the locker room. Have had a few instances where there are homeless people by the doorway early in the morning, so have had to go to a different gym. Also kind of curious about why employees at the gym get to let in their friends (they don't badge in). Is this a perk of being an employee, you can bring whoever you want?

The basketballs Are all warped and would not even bounce correctly , also I had signed up for the membership plus two week trial that they did charge me $80 that is supposedly going to be in reimbursed if you did not go with the membership with my daughter on my account …..so my Daughter wanted a spray tan so we went to go utilize it since we had members plus would not even work correctly after we told it was working correctly. It did not even spray anything. They asked if we wanted to try again to see if it would work. I said no is as if they don’t have money to properly maintain the equipment that they supply their customers. I’m not your trial and error. You’ve took my money already. I shouldn’t have to mess with faulty equipment. Our improper Maintenance. Also, my daughter was on my membership plus and they said that she hadn’t even had an account created yet. It was gonna take a week before it was updated on there computer so she had to do the spray tan in my place see how my profile had been created already I’m assuming….. Limiting my use for the spray tan machine. , they did charge a $399 enrollment fee that was waived. Assuming that was a deal the average enrollment fee is $15 for gyms in the lower 48 Wonder why it’s so expensive here I guess they are trying to make you think that you’re getting a better deal When you’re really not. wasn’t impressed by the professionalism Or loyalty customer base it’s like they’re just trying to sell sale sale and then try to get you in some type of program where you have to spend even more money like a personal trainer or a assessment as they call it that was not asked for on my behalf for me the amount that they charge Seems like it’s not worth it for a little over $2000 a year and a 399$ enrollment fee they should have classes every day for what they offer. You shouldn’t have to schedule ahead or have a limit. For that Type of price$$$ and y’all do Offer free trial. Not membership if you don’t go with the membership then it is refunded free as I was told, but I’ll make sure I get that on recording cause this gym is definitely a No go for me they also have a very intricate Enrollment they have going on you almost have to have a lawyer to go over it!!!!! I would recommend not joining Just the fact that they have so many hidden fees and loop holes to Benefit them
Experiencia positiva: I was an employee here as "Clean Team". It is not a terrible facility, and best of all, they are the ONLY company that gave me a job here without ANY complaints. My story here in Anchorage was a ABLISMAL disaster. Communications at other jobs was a disaster, and it took 6 to 7 months for any response from certain other jobs just to respond, WHAT A JOKE ANCHORAGE IS! This facility however, has been proud for their employees. I took the role for Clean Team and I took it with honor. I take the gym and the good community here with pride and dignity. It pays $12.50 for full time, which is why I left: little pay, and Anchorage has little opportunity now. I am going to Active Duty in the Air Force, try my best as CCT. Regardless, despite its good for paying you, it has its flaws. What I observed in the workforce here, is that it is too cut-throat, but I did take the job because some clown was making OSHA violation after OSHA violation, and replaced him. The second floor has employees working hard, and not enough downstairs. Ben, the manager, and Roland, Manager Associate, are practically the only employees that work downstairs, and roland spends most of his time Upstairs, which is time consuming. They also have some financial rule where certain employees are not allowed to earn a certain income, which is annoying, I work nearly over 20 hours of overtime and get in trouble for it, but whatever, Rules are rules for a reason, and OH boy does this facility have projects for YOU! In conclusion, thank you Ben and Roland for working me like a horse, and thank you members for showing me what needed to be done. Thank you for your time!

It was definitely off to a rocky start, but after a while the friendliness of the employees working in the evening and the good atmosphere have changed my attitude! In particular, Enzio and Aden have made my experience here great. They’re always happy, and extremely knowledgeable and willing to help answer any questions.

Experiencia negativa: Equipment is nice. Mostly went for the pool but a rented obstacle course took up half the pool, the other quarter was taken up by children. The last quarter is the slide drop off, so good luck not getting kicked. They were out of towels in the entire building and a birthday party shut down the place by 3. My partner mentioned the men's locker room was scary gross, smelt like mold and heard multiple others complain about the same thing. Staff were decent. Seemed more like a child daycare. Most likely will not be going back.

I told him at the beginning of our working together that I wanted someone who would push me (just enough) and also listen to my concerns and feedback. He does both. He is flexible - if a routine isn't working for me, he will adjust it or find something else. He is also very knowledgeable, and if he doesn't know the answer to something, he looks it up and gives me the answer the next time I see him. I highly recommend Nile as a trainer!

Experiencia positiva: I use the AK club East primarily for the pool. The main women's locker room is adequate, usually has enough towels and is free of garbage. The women's family locker room periodically has notable mold in the showers, especially the ceiling, and is often very slippery to walk on from shower and pool traffic on the tile flooring. Towels run out in this locker room, so bring your own or hit the adult locker room first to get towels for the kids. Front desk and maintenance staff are decent folks but they have to field complaints without much ability to do anything about them, and admin has never responded to my emails. I wrote to complain about handicapped parking (inadequate and abused) and about a particularly harsh staff member yelling at kids. No response. It is difficult to even find the proper email address for complaints. Membership policies aren't the greatest. They are rigid and designed to keep you paying without much choice. It has always been that way so don't expect it to change. Email communication is almost non-existent. Family memberships are bound to household not family, so forget putting grandkids on your membership. I would add them to my account in a heartbeat as they are under 10 and only come to swim with me, but policies prohibit me from doing so. It's sad that there is zero flex. It's the club's right to set policies, but they aren't winning any love from the community by being so rigid. Overall, East club is adequate, and worth a membership (if you can stomach an initial, binding 1 year contract), but only (for me) because of the pool and the kind people working the front desk.

Experiencia negativa: Its sucks when they cancel kids swimming lesson and does not send email or phone call, then you show up for the class only to know that there is no class. They don't even reimburse for the class that missed because the instructor is not available. Not only waste of time but also waste of money for the service you paid and yet you did not get it. Well I guess it’s not only me cause someone showed up to in my kid class, whom did not receive email too. What an irresponsible management!

It is part of our standard operating procedures to contact participants in the event that lesson have to be cancelled. We would also like to clear up your comment about the refund. Experiencia fantástica: What I feel separates this gym from others is having so much offered 24/7. I have been members of many other gyms in Anchorage area and I think this separates them especially around holidays.

Experiencia negativa: The Alaska club East is pretty terrible, but the gym situation in Anchorage is also terrible. Anyhoo, this gym is constantly filthy and many areas like the mens locker room are both disgusting and in disrepair (I’ve literally found used condoms in the shower). The weight room area is far too small and set up awkwardly with old equipment that needs to be replaced. Also the club lets the 16-22 year old wanna be bodybuilders run wild. They blast their own music and set up their cellphones on tripods to record themselves. But worst of all, they hog equipment. I’ve waited nearly an hour for a squat rack before. If you’re coming from the lower 48 and have experienced well managed gyms, this place will be a shock to you, especially the cost compared to cleanliness and disrepair of the gym.
Experiencia fantástica: My kids play tennis and while I usually work out at home, I enjoy the amenities. It's nice to have a bright, clean place to go, especially during the Winter. Melanie at the front desk is always super cheerful and helpful. She really makes us feel welcome!
Experiencia fantástica: I’ve showed up for mobility 101 the last two Mondays at the East club at 10:30. The class did not happen the last two Mondays. I’d really like to see mobility 101 on a regular schedule.
Experiencia negativa: Front desk person sent me the wrong way after asking her for a location. I knew that wasn't the room myself. I walked all the way back and she replied "oh it isn't?" My eyes rolling to the back of my head. Idk, I DON'T WORK HERE. She confidently pointed for me to go down as if she knew. She could have verified with someone who knew before sending me and wasting my time. I should have asked a random person walking by. Note: Don't ask the front desk for directions around the building.
