Flagstaff Climbing

Experiencia positiva: Only game in town if you want ropes. Setting is very good and varied, holds are cleaned. Shop sells gear at reasonable prices. Wall a little short by modern standards, but not too bad and you can get a good pump on for sure. No locker rooms. No effective workout/crosstrain area. Not sure where those things would go in the space available but something to note. Membership includes the nearby yoga studio and a bouldering facility on the other side of town, so the value is pretty decent. Would like to see more morning hours here, but the bouldering gym is 24-7.

Experiencia fantástica: While not the grandest gym ever (not their fault, due to cost of expansion), I love the community centered around this gym and it's a great way to stay in shape and make some friends. The staff are chill and super helpful

Experiencia positiva: This wasn't an extravagant or huge climbing gym but I really enjoyed myself while I was there. It really got the job done and had fun routes. The staff was kind and the members there were really cool too. Also, it was an affordable gym that was clean. I'd to also note, their rental equipment was kept clean and sterilized which was a big deal to me. If you are in Flagstaff and looking to climb, this would be a cool place to hit

Experiencia positiva: Update: maybe I wasnt clear about the sign up policy, but I injured my hand badly and had to put my climbing pass on hold. I didnt know they were charging my credit card each month until I changed my card 6 months down the road. I thought that was a cheap way to swindle an extra few kopecs from people. Taking off 2 stars. Awesome little gym! Sometimes bigger gyms lose their soul. This place has an intimate feel with interesting route setting. I'm super pleased with what this place offers to the Flag climbing community. Downside; I hurt my wrist, couldn't climb, and put my account on hold. I didnt realize they were charging my credit card 7$ a month to keep it on hold until I cancelled the card. That kinda sucked, and i think they should be more upfront about the potential for hidden charges.

Experiencia fantástica: On 09/14/2019 myself and my daughter stopped by the Downtown Crag facility while on a vacation to the Grand Canyon. We wandered in around 9:00pm and was met by a very friendly and nice fellow - Tim. Obviously he is a climber and does alot of the local outdoor climbing - even let us know a few of the local places to visit. We let Tim know that we were just in town for a couple of days, and that my daughter and myself both climb. We were looking at doing some top rope as we didn't pack a rope but the 5.11- on lead kept drawing my kids attention. Only stumbling block was that we didn't pack a rope. When we explained our situation Tim went in the back and loaned us a rope. My daughter flashed the 5.11- twice and tool a crack at the 5.12 but it got the best of her. He than even took the time to help out my daughter, provide some valuable beta and give her some very good climbing strategy. He than let us know that you can be the strongest climber in the world but if you aren't mentally ready to do it you will often fail - great advice! Tim even stuck around after closing to chat for a bit. We really appreciated it and appreciate the fact that someone would go out of their way to help out two complete strangers from out of town. We will recommend your place to other climbing friends when they are in the area. Our only negative is that we waited til our last night in town to find the place. Thanks

Experiencia fantástica: I am so pleased with the experience myself and my 9 and 10 year old sons had at this climbing gym. I am a total novice. My kids have had just some simple lessons. We went in for happy hour which I thought was a designated youth time. I was mistaken, and in a hurry take a yoga class around the corner. The staff was nothing but helpful and accommodating. Everything in my schedule worked out seamlessly because of their quality service. We also had an incredible lesson and introduction from Matt. He was a brilliant, attentive and articulate teacher. The overall customer service, and learning experience was excellent. We will be back. Furthermore the staff seemed to be great role models for kids. We are Thrilled to have had such a wonderful first experience.

Experiencia fantástica: John was a fabulous and very experienced guide. He was training Jacky to guide and she was great too. They were able to set difficult climbs for our teenagers and easier ones for our younger child. Great climbing site too.
